Monitored Alarm System - Self Monitoring or Central Monitoring company?

We get asked quite often how the alarm monitoring works? With our Wireless DIY Monitored Alarm systems you may decide which you would like to use for your monitoring. You need to ask yourself, which do you prefer... To monitor yourself by receiving an sms or phone call when violated. OR would you prefer a monitoring company take care of this for you? It really is personal choice! Lets go through both options... Self-Monitor your wireless alarm system You may program your alarm system to suit your own personal needs in regards to monitoring. You can plug in an existing phone line or put a SIM card into the back of the alarm. Let's say you are going on holidays. You can program your phone number into the alarm to txt or call you when violated, but you may also add a close family member or friends mobile number that you trust. This way they can go around and inspect the home or office for you whilst you are not in the area. You can add up to 5 phone numbers. Once the alarm has been violated, it starts it's job. It alerts the phone numbers you have entered, in order from 1 to 5. It will always make you aware if the alarm is violated, when you have phone numbers programmed in. You may choose which extra alerts you would like to receive, you can choose from the following - * Power recover * Arm & Disarm SMS * PSTN off or on * Panel low power * Sensors low power Ever go on holidays? Get half way there and realise you forgot to set your alarm? Don't worry, you can arm & disarm your alarm by sending the alarm panel an SMS. It will reply when armed. We highly recommend using a SIM card as you can use the sms options. When you use an existing PSTN (phone line) you may only receive calls from the alarm and you can't text your alarm. If you are using a PSTN line you can only receive phone calls when the alarm has been violated. It will not be physically able to send or receive a txt from it as this line is voice only. The cost for self-monitoring is simply a phone call or SMS from your telephone company. You only pay for what you use and you know exactly what is happening with your system. Central Monitoring company Central-stations use special telephone lines, computers, software and trained staff to monitor their customers' security systems and call the appropriate authorities in the event an alarm signal is received. Typically, there is a fee for these services (They can start at $1 per day). Because quality and experience can vary greatly among alarm companies, prospective customers are well advised to do their own research before making a final choice. Not all alarm companies monitor the systems they install and may outsource these services to another company. In Australia Central Stations are graded on 2 areas: operational and physical performance. Operational performance includes the ability of the monitoring system to respond to events - generated by customers' security systems, operational reliability, data retrieval, etc. Physical performance includes measures such as the construction of monitoring rooms - most high security rooms have airlocks which can only be operated internally. The highest standard is 1a to 3c. To be graded at 3c central stations still meet very high standards.
